Toby Cat Walks Into Our Hearts #WATWB

All too often, social media and news are filled with hate and negativity. So how do you banish the darkness they bring? You don’t focus on them. Instead, you light lamps, hoping to bring love and positivity forward instead.

This is the 13th installment of We Are the World Blogfest (#WATWB). Our fabulous cohosts for this month are:  Shilpa Garg, Dan Antion, Simon Falk, Michelle Wallace , Mary Giese.

NOTE:  My website was under construction from April to June 8th, so I recreated this blogpost today. Unfortunately, I lost the comments of the  people who took the time to read and give feedback. My apologies:(

A story about a fluffy orange cat who wouldn’t give up made the social media rounds recently. So determined was he to return to his owners, he walked 12 miles to get back to them.

Unfortunately, they didn’t want him. Surrendering him to an animal shelter run by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, they asked that he be euthanized.

As a caretaker for three beautiful, playful outdoor cats (Little Mama, Little Yellow, and Little White), I could not help but cry. Euthanize the little guy who walked 12 miles to be with them again? (But, as the article points out, at least they brought Toby to an animal shelter, rather than abandoning him or worse.)

The story has a happy ending, though. Now Toby even has his own Instagram account, which he uses to ask for support for the SPCA, which saved his life.
